Randy has been a writer/editor at newspapers and magazines for more than 30 years, while contributing creative nonfiction and personal essays to literary magazines and pursuing independent projects. He teaches fiction and creative nonfiction at Emory University in Atlanta.

Along with general-interest, investigative and feature writing, Randy's day-job background includes technical writing for a trade magazine of the metal-fabricating industry; ad copywriting for print and radio; television broadcasting as host of a local public-affairs program; and radio broadcasting (gathering, writing and announcing news) for about five years at AM/FM stations in the Midwest.
